Wild Flowers by Anne Pratt, volume 1, 1853, first series.
Anne Pratt created wonderful botanical illustrations and she produced a number of books including some about ferns and birds.
This book is has boards covered in blue cloth with some embossed and some gilt floral decorations on the front and the spine. The lettering is gilt and is brighter on the front than the spine. There is some light wear to the covers a little more so on the top and the bottom of the spine. The front paste-down has a previous owner's name-plate. The front hinge has some carefully place tape on it. The book has some scattered foxing through it most apparent on the blank areas around the illustrations.
There are 96 still bright, coloured plates of flowers and their descriptions. The book has 192 pages with an additional 4 pages of ads at the back. 120x145 mms. It was published by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge in England. The binding is tight.
A good to very good copy.
