This is a hard-cover with no dust-wrapper published by Seeley and Co. The cover shows slight wear, and there is a previous owner's writing on the rear free page. There is some mild scattered toning. There is some bumping to the top and bottom of  the spine.
 
Hamley served in Crimea and was a successful military writer. Hamley discusses the strategic and tactical decisions made during the war, as well as describing the battles and campaigns which occurred.
 
This is a very good copy.
