An Inquiry into The Causes and Effects of the Variolae Vaccinae, a Disease Discovered in Some of the Western Counties of England Particularly Gloucestershire and Known by the Name of Cow Pox.
 
This book is an Australian first edition of the second edition of Jenner's book on Cow Pox published in 1800. This hard-cover work was published in 1884. The government of New south Wales reprinted the book as a "perfect fac simile of the work in size, type and the four coloured plates"
 
This was an extremely important book when published as it demonstrated one of the first successful vaccination strategies for the very serious disease of Small Pox. Jenner demonstrated all this with his easy to read case studies. This Australian edition is quite rare and was an important addition to Public Health information in Australia.
 
The cover is half leather with marbled papers and gilt lettering. The cover shows some wear more so on the back and a small split at the top front of the spine. There is some foxing more apparent to the early pages of the book. There is some light blue soiling possibly from ink to some spots on the last few pages. It is a good to very good copy.
 
The book comes with an additional 7 page document. it was produced in 1881 by the Legislative Assembly of New south Wales. It relates to Regulations for the management of small-pox.
