A World of Wonders Revealed by the Microscope. Written by the Hon. Mrs Ward. A second edition, published by Groombridge and Sons in 1859. This is a hard-cover in green cloth with gilt lettering (slight wear) and decorations to the front cover and spine. The edges of the cover also show some slight wear, with a small superficial split at the top of the spine, at the back and a very small one lower down. The page edges are gilt with minimal losses of the gilt and the bottom of the text block shows a little more which I have tried to show in one of the photos. The verso of the cover has a previous owner's stamp which is also seen on the free-front page. The free-front page has a copper-plate previous owner's details and some smudges at the top seen in the photo. There is also a thin strip of matching paper over the gutter (see photo) here also seen on the back. This was professioanally applied  and the binding is very secure. The book has some light scattered soiling throughout and is otherwise in very good condition. The hand-coloured illustrations are an absolute delight. The book will be mailed with insurance included.
