The Last Days of Pompeii by Edward Bulwer-Lytton. A second edition from 1839,published by Richard Bentley. A hard-cover in 1/2 leather. Bumped edges and wear on the cover. The spine has a small crack visible in the photo with wear to the edges and gilt decoration with a split on the top edge of the spine. The text block edges are marbled.The preliminaries, frontspiece and title page show foxing as seen in the photo however the rest of the book is quite clean with some light scattered foxing only. The binding is firm.
