The Fine Arts and Civilization of Ancient Ireland by Henry O'Neill, 1863.
This is an erudite text, complimented by lithographs, chromolithographs and wood-cuts. The author had previously written a book about sculptured crosses in ancient Ireland.
The cover is in teal coloured cloth with bright gilt text and some decorations. The spine has gilt lettering with light wear. A previous owner has put light pencil ticks next to each of the list of illustrations presumably to confirm their presence, including a fold-out illustration. The pages and illustrations are quite clean and the binding is tight.
The book is 118 pages with a small inserted ad of 4 pages at the end of the book.
This is a very good copy.
