The Coinage of the British Empire by H.Noel Humphreys. This was published by David Bogue in 1855. The cover is a spectacular black papier mache with a red underlay. The spine is black leather with bright gilt lettering. As seems to be the case with nearly every copy I have seen, there is a horizontal crack through the front of the cover and another photo shows evidence of this on the paste-down. There are some small cracks scattered on the papier mache as usual and slight wear to the edges. The text block edges are gilt. There is light browning and occasional foxing scattered throughout. as with all copies the illustrations of coins have left imprints on the adjacent pages. I will pay for insurance for posting.
