The Birds of Australia by John Gould.
 
This is volume 1 of a set of eight. It was printed as a facsimile in 1972. It is an elephant folio thus a large book.
 
The cover is in brown vinyl otherwise known as simulated leather with some light scuffing and wear to the front and back. The free-front page has some creases in it as has the title page (to a lesser extent).  There is some light foxing on the text-block edge. The rest of the book is clean with bright and unmarked illustrations.
 
I will include as extra, Gould's Handbook to the Birds of Australia also a facsimile edition.
 
The book is a superb item to own for anyone with an interest in Australiana, Australian History or ornithology.
 
The weight of these books is not inconsiderable for postage.
