Scenes from a Winter's Tale illuminated by Owen Jones and Henry Warren. Published by Day and Sons, circa 1866. The cover is brown morocco leather with bevelled edges. The photo best represents this magnificent binding, which shows some slight wear and minimal loss of gilt. The spine is slightly bumped at the top and bottom but the gilt lettering and decorations on it are bright and in excellent condition. The book is unpaginated, but contains 24 thick leaves (including the title page) with text verso and plates recto. All vividly coloured chromolithographs. There is some light spotting inside the front and rear covers and free pages and prelimiaries. Many but not all of the tissue guards are present. There is some light browning around the page edges and very occasional spotting but the illustrations are all clean and bright. the page edges are gilt. Overall the book is in excellent condition. It measures 28.5x22 cms and will be mailed with insurance.
