The cover is 3/4 leather with marbled paper on the boards. There is gilt edging to the boards. The spine has 5 raised bands with gilt lettering and decorations. The covers show light wear, in particular to the edges. The end-papers are marbled.The delightful illustrations are hand-coloured. The top of the text-block edge is gilt. There is part of an old sticker on an early blank page. The pages show some light browning at the edges.
 
This is quite a charming book which makes for a pleasant read complimented by the binding and the illustrations. It is in very good plus condition.
