My Life with Stanley's Rear Guard by Herbert Ward. This is the UK version published by Chatto and Windus in 1891. It is a hard-cover with a map by F.S.Weller. The cover is blue with gilt lettering and an illustration of a plant. The cover is worn and soiled with faded gilt and chips to the edges. There is a chip on the back edge of the spine measuring 10x4mm. There is a numerical annotation on the front paste down and on the title page with some slight wear (see photo). There is a "Mechanics Institute Rushworth" stamp on the title page and on several pages through the book. There is some slight browning to the top of the text block. The binding is very firm and the pages are actually clean. This is quite a rare book and the price reflects a book which remains of considerable value in a fair to good state. I would rate it as good plus without the stamps.
