Madman's Island by Ion Idriess.
 
This is a National Edition (volume 12) in green cloth as hard-cover. It is inscribed "success to you Ion Idriess Sept 1940".  It was published by Angus and Roberston. The book itself was undated.
 
The front cover has a silver kangaroo inside two circles. The spine and back cover show some losses of colour/wear visible in the photos. The front and rear end-papers both have complete maps with tanning. There is a book shop stamp on one of the early blanks. The frontis piece is a photo. There are black and white illustrations through the book. The pages show light tanning ( a result of the use of war-time paper) and the occasional  slight soiling.
 
 
This is a non-fiction version of this story. The original version from 1927 was written as a fiction novel and was commercially unsuccessful.
