Kim by Rudyard Kipling.

A first edition published by Macmillan in 1901. A red cloth cover with a gilt ganesha on the front and gilt lettering on the spine. The cover shows light wear especially on the edges. The preliminaries show some foxing especially on the tissue paper (as usual) over the fronts-piece illustration of Zam-Zammah. There are 10 illustrations in total by Rudyard's father John.

There are two pages of ads at the back. the book pages are lightly toned at the edges with some slight scattered foxing.

The book was originally published as a serial. While essentially an adventure story, through the eyes of Kim, a wonderful picture of Indian culture in the latter part of the nineteenth century is created.

A very good copy.
