The cover is delightful gilt cover against a very light brown background. It was designed by Charles Ricketts and I suspect he has hidden his initials in a box on the front right hand side of the book. The front and bottom edges of the text-block are deckled. there is browning to the preliminaries and the deckled edges. the rest of the book shows some
light toning only. The binding is tight.
 
A series of 13 essays. There are same-sex references and an essay on the colour blue, hence the title. Symonds was a prolific writer and these essays are a selection of works by him over 30 years.
