In Darkest Africa by Henry M. Stanley. Published by Scribner & Sons in 1890. Two hard-cover books with a half-leather binding and marbled boards. Gilt decorations and lettering on the spine with some wear.Wear to the edges of the boards. Page edges are all gilt. Volume 1 has a map in a pocket at the back (one side of pocket has a tear in it) and volume 2 has one map rather than the original two (one side of pocket has a tear in it). A previous owner's name on an early blank in both books. Other than some light browning the books are quite clean with a tight binding. These are heavy books.
