It does not have the later Boer War inserts. The cover is bright with the original binding. It shows light wear and some to the edges. There are a few inscriptions on the free-front page: a dedication, a name and a book-shop stamp. The contents page has a single tear 2.5cm long but the page is complete. The pages are all quite browned, no doubt a reflection on the paper used but there is no foxing. This is a rare and very good copy.
