Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti.

This was published by Macmillan in 1893. The cover and woodcut illustrations are by Lawrence Housman.

The spine shows some slight wear to the top and bottom. The endpapers show foxing with some light foxing on the title page which is covered by a tissue guard. The rest of the pages and illustrations are very clean and the binding is tight. There is a small diamond shaped stamp on the rear paste-down.

This is a fascinating Victorian tale of two sisters who encounter a goblin market selling forbidden fruit. There have been many interpretations of the meaning of the book and whether it was actually written for children.

The book is in near-fine condition. It will be insured for postage.
