The Excellent History of Tom Hickathrift. A soft-cover and one of Gammer Gurton's story books. Published by Cundall in 1844 (no date in the book). A rarely found chap book. 16 pages in green boards with gold embellishments and lettering. The cover shows wear andloss of green colouring on the spine but is quite intact. There is a loss of a small part of one corner on the back cover. There is a gift dedication inside the front cover dated 1848. Each page has black and white decorations with birds and insects ansd a snail in one picture. The pages show some light toning and there are some scattered ink marks through the book. This remains a very good copy.
