The First Six Books of the Elements of Euclid by Oliver Byrne, first edition.
Published by William Pickering in 1847 with the original red cloth. Only 1000 copies printed originally. The covers show slight bumping to the corners apparent in the photos on the top and bottom of the spine as well. There is slight wear to the edges. The gilt lettering is bright. The light yellow end-papers are in good condition. The top 5cms of the dedication page have separated (see photo above) but page is still attached. The colours all remain vivid. The book is 268 pages.
The main issue is the foxing which is seen in all copies of the book. It is most obvious on the page edges. Rather than attempting to grade it I have included a lot of photos and of course, I will provide more on request. The majority of pages have light to moderate foxing but this is subjective.
