Dalmatia and Montenegro and a Journey in Mostar in Herzegovina by Sir J.Gardiner Wilkinson. Two volumes published by John Murray in 1848.Both are in 3/4 leather and cloth binding. The spines have 5 raised bands with decorations and text in faded gilt. They have marbled text block edges. Volume 1 shows wear to the cover edges and some of the spine with fading to the cloth.There is a partial split to the front of the spine.  The end-papers are marbled and they are followed by a fold-out illustration. The fold-out is one of three lithographs one of which appears to have been reattached. there are numerous wood-cuts.There is some foxing of the preliminaries and otherwise the pages are very clean and the binding tight. Volume 2 has less fading to the cover and less wear. It has an lithograph, map, fronts-piece and towards the back a fold-out map of Dalmatia and Montenegro and a two 'Pedigree' charts to follow. It also has some light foxing of the preliminaries. Volume 1 is good to very good and volume 2 is very good.
