A blue cloth cover with coloured illustrations and gilt lettering on the front and spine. There is a very slight tilt to the book, and some mild soiling and wear to the covers. There is some occasional light foxing scattered throughout, more obvious on the preliminaries, in particular the free-front page, the half and whole title pages and the 16 pages of advertisements at the back of the book. There are numerous black and white illustrations. The binding is tight. A good to very good copy of an early edition of this book.
