Aesop's Fables illustrated by Arthur Rackham, 1912
 
This is a first edition published by Heinemann. It is,of course, a collection of Aesop's Fables. What distinguishes it from the many other versions of this book are the superb black and white and colour illustrations by Arthur Rackham. There are 13 colour illustrations each with a titled tissue paper cover.
 
The book is in green cloth with a slight tilt. There is some light wear with some staining to the cover as seen in the photograph. There is some wear to the top and bottom of the spine. There is a previous owner's name and details on the free-front page. The front gutter is cracked and the hinge is tender. The rear gutter has a small crack only with no problems with the hinge. There is some  foxing scattered thoughout  not affecting the colour illustrations. A fair to good copy.
