1886, The "New Chum" in Australia or the Scenery, Life and Manners in Town and Country by Percy Clarke.
 
This is a hard-cover,  published by J.S.Virtue and Co. The author did the 40 original sketches. In addition, the frontispiece is a rather charming etching titled "Home of the Lyre Bird". This features the author's observations of Australian life while travelling around Australia.
 
The book is in red cloth with some soiling as indicated in the photos. The text on the cover is gilt with light wear and a illustration in black of a traditional house. The spine is slightly faded. There is some slight spotting on the text-block edges and some slight foxing only on the early pages of the book. The end-papers show some wear. The binding is tight.
 
A good to very good copy.
